About this role:
Brampton Funeral Home & Cemetery is currently seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to join our team. This position involves a variety of tasks including interior maintenance, as well as overseeing and executing small to medium-sized construction and renovation projects.
The successful candidate will support multiple locations across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area – East, including Toronto, Scarborough, North York, Etobicoke, Markham, Stouffville, and Brampton.
This role is ideal for a proactive, self-motivated individual who can work with minimal supervision while maintaining compliance with company policies and safety standards. You will play a vital role in ensuring the upkeep, functionality, and overall presentation of our facilities.
We are currently recruiting for one full-time permanent role working on average 35 hours per week with the possibility of overtime as business operations require and one part-time permanent role with a maximum of 28 hours per week in an on-call capacity.
Job Type: Full Time & Part Time, Permanent
Key Qualifications and Demonstrated Abilities:
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent and knowledge of basic Construction Processes.
- Proficient knowledge of various construction materials; i.e. Paints and Finishes
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and consistently high level of accuracy.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; verbal, written and presentation.
- Exemplifies Arbor’s values of integrity, trust, teamwork, belonging and excellence.
- A valid driver’s license is a mandatory requirement for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Provides assistance with general maintenance of the designated facility within the region.
- Manages the successful completion of small to medium-sized maintenance projects.
- Primarily responsible for providing Painting and General Repairs to the interior and exterior of facilities as required.
- Assists internal construction and or third-party contractors with final finishes (Paint/Drywall) and clean-up of larger projects within the designated region.
- May be required to spend nights away for out of town projects within the designated region.
- Provides detailed list of work performed as discussed with the location manager.
- Performs general building upkeep and ensures the proper maintenance of the funeral home’s general appearance and care.
- Maintains inventory levels of cleaning products, paper supplies and other supplies used by the cleaning department.
- Maintains and completes cleaning checklists and cleaning standards. Ensures that SDS’s for all chemicals are current and up to date.
- Reports any health and safety hazards to the Funeral Home Manager.
