About the role

The SMA (www.sma.sk.ca) is a voluntary, member-based, professional association for physicians, medical students and residents in the province and it is the provincial chapter of the Canadian Medical Association. As the trusted voice of Saskatchewan’s 2,600 practicing physicians, the SMA negotiates for and on behalf of our doctors; supports the educational, professional, economic and personal well-being of physicians; and advocates for a high-quality and patient-centred, health-care system.

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time, permanent Coordinator, Insurance Education & Engagement to join our growing team!

The Coordinator, Insurance Education & Engagement connects with and informs medical students, residents and physicians about the importance, value, and benefits of SMA Insurance. SMA Insurance consists of lifestyle insurance products including life, disability, office overhead, accidental death & dismemberment, extended medical and dental, medical office property. The position builds business relationships internally and with external partners.

This position is based on-site at our office in Saskatoon, SK, with a voluntary hybrid work option subject to approval under our Hybrid Work Arrangement policy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Educate medical students, residents, and physicians on the value and details of SMA insurance products.
  • Create and deliver engaging presentations, coordinate events and seminars, and develop related social media.
  • Respond to and accurately answer inquiries from medical students, residents, and practicing and retired physicians regarding the specific benefits and coverage available with SMA Insurance.
  • Develop and implement an education and engagement plan to ensure targets are met for events, outreach and application goals.
  • Coordinate and maintain a schedule of planned educational and engagement initiatives and collaborate with other SMA departments to ensure seamless integration of events/activities.
  • Build relationships with external stakeholders such as University of Saskatchewan, provincial medical associations, resident and student associations, etc.
  • Contribute to team strategy and leverage technological efficiencies to best serve our members.
  • Research and provide insights including competitive intelligence, environmental issues, membership, educational and licensing requirements, and other issues that may impact members and SMA Insurance’s ability to achieve its goals.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director, Membership, Insurance, & Programs.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a related field, and/or combination of education and work-related experience
  • Demonstrated expertise and thorough knowledge of group and individual lifestyle insurance (life, disability, extended medical & dental, office overhead, critical illness, AD&D)
  • Licensed with the Insurance Councils of Saskatchewan for Accident & Sickness or completion of the Life License Qualification Program (LLQP) Certificate is an asset.
  • Insurance related education such as Group Benefits Certificate, Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) is preferred
  • Familiarity with third-party administration of insurance policy.\
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience

Salary

$51,886- $70,200 per annum commensurate with experience.
