Position Summary

At BCHS the HR Generalist is an integral part of our Human Resources team with a focus on recruitment and labour relations.

In this role you will engage with healthcare professionals across many sourcing channels to build our recruiting brand; you will also manage the recruitment process for both internal and external career opportunities for both our Brantford General and Willett sites for a specific portfolio. In addition, you will work alongside the HR Business Partners to support labour relations activities. This will include attendance management, exit interviews, union management meetings and grievance support.

You will build strong relationships with our leadership team serving as their key contact that provides recruitment and labour support.

Our Ideal Candidate Has:

  • College Diploma in Human Resources or related field is required
  • Certified Human Resources Professional or Certified Human Resources Leader is required
  • Minimum 3 years’ recent/related experience in a unionized healthcare environment
  • Knowledge of relevant Employment legislation including Employment Standards Act, Pay Equity Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and Human Rights legislation
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office, Social Platforms and Job Boards
  • Commitment to cultural diversity in the workplace as it relates to the employment process
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills with proven ability to build trust at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent Customer service and relationship management skills
  • Well organized, exceptional communication and attention to detail
  • Strong sense of urgency and desire to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism

You will be responsible for:

  • Partnering with hiring managers to understand their needs and develop appropriate sourcing strategies

  • Maintaining our ATS and external job boards to cultivate a pipeline of potential future hires including past applicants and referred candidates

  • Planning and participating in recruitment events to drive awareness around BCHS’ career opportunities

  • Working closely with other members of our Human Resources, Organizational Health and Organizational Development team to ensure a smooth and effective end to end recruitment process

  • Maintaining all candidate documentation and performing necessary administrative tasks

  • Serves as the initial point of advice, problem resolution, and facilitation in the area of employee relations, performance management, and employee discipline

  • Advises both employees and management regarding employee relations policies and procedures, association/contract terms and conditions

  • Researches, identifies and analyzes specific employee relations concerns and makes appropriate recommendations to leadership

  • Conduct and coordinate exit and stay interviews for departing employees

  • Works closely with Leadership to facilitate harmonious employee relations, stressing cooperation at all levels to ensure effective working relationships between staff and management

  • Assists with researching legal issues, preparation and locating relevant grievance documentation necessary to the Hospital’s position on various issues and responses to the applicable Union group
