About the role

Your Opportunity:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at the Whitecourt Healthcare Centre utilizes the nursing process as a member of, and in collaboration with, the interdisciplinary team in the delivery of consistent quality care to meet the needs of the client through the life span. The LPN participates in the provision of health care to clients by applying nursing knowledge, skills, and judgment to assess client needs and providing nursing care for clients. The LPN accepts responsibility for continuing competency through ongoing professional development, including participation in education programs, research and continuous quality activities. As this is a rural LPN position you will be required to work in all areas of the healthcare centre, such as: Emergency, Medical/Surgical, Operating Room, and Labour & Delivery. The LPN is required to be able to work all shifts. On-Call Duty may be required.

Description:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.

Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

As required.

Preferred Qualifications:

At least one year relevant nursing experience preferred.

Rural experience preferred.

ER experience preferred.

Additional education courses related to rural nursing preferred.
