About the role

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Custom Application Manager, the floater/sprayer operator is responsible for the safe, accurate and efficient application of fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides to agricultural fields, using state-of-the-art floaters, sprayers and tender trucks. This role is a key piece of our Custom Application Division, ensuring timely and accurate product delivery to meet customer needs while maintaining regulatory and operational safety standards.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate custom application equipment such as high-clearance sprayers and floaters to apply fertilizer, crop protection and seed, according to agronomic guidelines and work orders
  • Load and mix products in accordance with label and safety requirements
  • Transport application equipment to customer fields safely and efficiently
  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration and repairs on equipment, to ensure peak performance with minimal downtime
  • Maintain accurate application records including rates, products applied and field data, using onboard technology or application software
  • Communicate effectively with agronomists, dispatch and customers to ensure job accuracy and timeliness
  • Follow all company and regulatory guidelines regarding chemical handling, environmental protection and personal safety
  • Assist with warehouse and tender operations during off-peak periods, or when not operating application equipment
  • Support seasonal work hours, including overtime and weekends as required by workload and weather
  • Other duties as required

SKILLSKNOWLEDGE:

  • Valid Class 1A drivers license and clean driving record is mandatory
  • Mechanical aptitude with ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Background/experience in farming and agriculture is essential, including understanding of chemical mixing and handling procedures
  • Valid Pesticide Applicators License – training could be provided for the right candidate
  • Knowledge of agronomic principles and crop protection products is a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with customers and peers
  • Able to lift > 50lbs in a safe manner and work extended hours during peak seasons
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision under variable weather conditions
