Job Description
In collaboration with the DMP Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:
- Translating the film’s sets into digital matte paintings in a style consistent with the vision of the Director and Art Director
- Creating complex backgrounds, landscapes, and environments within a 3D space using a broad range of tools including digital painting, rendering, and compositing software
- Working closely with the DMP Supervisor on matters of design, style, lighting, and graphical interpretation
- Setting up and executing 3D paintings while respecting the technical requirements of the project
- Developing the atmosphere and mood across various vistas
- Fixing and adjusting textures, including defining and correcting stretching where needed
- Collaborating with various departments including Art, Layout, Modeling, Look Development, Final Set Dressing, Lighting, Compositing, and Stereo
Qualifications
- Strong background in painting and illustration (both traditional and digital)
- Experience with 2.5D/3D projections is a plus
- Knowledge of Photoshop is required
- Familiarity with Nuke and Maya; knowledge of Blender is a plus
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and sometimes demanding production environment
- Strong communicator and team collaborator
- Excellent attention to detail and a solid understanding of the different stages of animated film production
- Experience on animated features is preferred but not mandatory
- Solid technical and artistic skills
