What Sienna Offers: We are a purpose driven organization.  We aspire to cultivate an environment and culture where team members feel valued, heard and empowered to do meaningful work.  What You’ll Be Doing: We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Interior Designer with experience in the renovation of hospitality and/or senior living environments. In this role, you will lead, and support design initiatives aimed at enhancing existing residences - balancing aesthetics, accessibility, safety, and functionality. Projects will range from cosmetic upgrades to full reconfigurations of common areas and suites; all focused on enriching the living experience of older adults.

Reporting to the Director - Facilities and Renovations (Building Services) this position will play a key role in ensuring our residences remain competitive in the marketplace while meeting the operational and service expectations of our stakeholders. This position involves developing and executing interior design concepts across our portfolio, with a strong attention to detail and alignment with Sienna’s design standards and brand identity.

  • Develop thoughtful, person-centered interior design concepts for renovation projects across independent living, assisted living, memory care, and long-term care settings.
  • Conduct pre-renovation assessments to identify design opportunities aligned with resident needs and operational goals.
  • Lead projects from concept to completion - including space planning, material selection, FF&E specification, and overseeing third-party design services.
  • Apply aging-in-place and universal design principles to maximize accessibility, visibility, and circulation.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Asset Management, Real Estate Development, Operations, and Sales to ensure environments support resident and operational needs.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure adherence to design programs, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Select appropriate colors, fabrics, flooring, window treatments, and furnishings with attention to ergonomics, infection control, and long-term maintenance.
  • Prepare presentation materials, sample boards, palettes, and documentation for internal review and stakeholder approval.
  • Produce detailed design and construction documentation, including floor plans, elevations, finish schedules, and reflected ceiling plans.
  • Manage site installations, interior fit-outs, punch lists, and project closeout. Attend regular site visits and design meetings.
  • Resolve design and construction challenges in coordination with consultants and contractors to maintain timelines and quality.
  • Contribute to the evolution of Sienna’s design standards and maintain brand consistency across all properties.
  • Oversee consultants, vendors, and contractors to ensure effective project execution.
  • Partner with Asset Management, Real Estate, and Finance to develop project budgets and schedules that align with investment targets.
  • Provide regular updates on design progress, budgets, and timelines.

Education & Experience Required:

  • Degree or diploma in Interior Design or a related field.
  • Certification with a recognized professional body (e.g., NCIDQ, ARIDO) required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in hospitality, healthcare, or senior living design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve design issues and keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Deep understanding of how design impacts resident well-being, with expertise in accessibility and ergonomic principles.
  • Experience in FF&E procurement and installation, particularly in operational environments
