About Us

Western Bookstore provides the campus community and alumni with official Western merchandise to showcase their purple pride. They also supply a wide range of textbooks, general books, supplies and custom merchandise. They are the provider of official Western merchandise on campus.

Responsibilities

The Store Assistant focuses on providing excellent customer service while processing sales and refunds. Both of these transactions require the ability to adjust to each customer or situation, and to leave the customer with the feeling that the product or service has met their expectations.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • 1 year of retail experience with a strong customer service background

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:

  • Ability to communicate clearly and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience
  • Customer service skills to understand customer needs and expectations, with a desire to deliver helpful and reliable service to the University community
  • Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
  • Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work
  • Computer skills with the ability to learn and use software programs
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Possess a reputation for resourcefulness with a strong sense of accountability and initiative
  • Ability to create a positive impression while interacting with others and responding to inquiries, by telephone, in person or electronically
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and resolve issues
