Position: Director of Regulatory Affairs and Compliance – Chemical Industry Experience Preferred!

Quantum has partnered with an amazing client in the sustainable chemical manufacturing industry to hire an experienced and strategic Director of Regulatory Affairs and Compliance to help guide and elevate our client's regulatory operations across Canada and beyond. As the Director of Regulatory Affairs and Compliance, you will be the cornerstone of our client's compliance framework, guiding teams through the complex regulatory landscape that governs raw materials, finished products, and certifications. This is a pivotal leadership role that blends regulatory expertise, technical acumen, and strategic influence—with a direct line to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:

Monitor and interpret evolving regulatory requirements across Canada and other international markets
-
Advise business units and executives on regulatory risk, strategy, and compliance obligations
-
Support product quality and certification teams to ensure the organization meets and exceeds global standards (including Non-GMO, Kosher, Halal, cGMP, and others)
-
Liaise with customers, responding to technical inquiries with precision and professionalism
-
Lead the development of internal compliance policies and frameworks—from work instructions to best-practice standards
-
Participate in industry associations and working groups, helping shape regulatory dialogue
-
Provide regulatory insight and due diligence during M&A activities and corporate initiatives
-
Collaborate with Legal, Marketing, EH&S, and other departments on everything from modern slavery reporting to label claim substantiation
Relevant/Core Scope:

Canadian Environmental Regulations (CEPA)
-
Canadian Food & Drug Safety Regulations/ Certifications (Health Canada)
-
Canadian Product Safety, Safety Data Sheets (WHMIS, HPRA)
-
Canadian Packaging & Labelling Regulations, including label content approvals where necessary (Excise, WHMIS, Health Canada)
-
Canadian Feed Safety Regulations/ Certifications (CFIA)
-
Provide guidance to stakeholders on product certifications, i.e. Non-GMO, Allergen, Kosher, Halal, cGMP, etc.

Excise Licenses/Registrations
Requirements:
-
Minimum 10 years of related experience
-
Post-Secondary Education in a related field
-
Extensive experience in regulatory affairs, compliance, or technical advisory roles in chemical manufacturing or life sciences
-
Familiarity with Canadian regulatory bodies and requirements; knowledge of international regulations is a plus. i.e. CFIA, HPRA, CEPA, TTB, etc.

Strong understanding of an ISO based Safety Management System
-
Strong leadership presence, with the ability to influence, advise, and collaborate across departments
-
Excellent communication and analytical skills - ability to interpret complex regulations into business actions
-
A passion for quality, safety, and sustainability
-
Bilingual (English/French) would be an asset, but not required
