Opportunity

ISC is looking for Board members who are driven by the belief that newcomers, with their rich and diverse backgrounds, are incredible people who enrich Canada. The Board of Directors works with the Chief Executive Officer to ensure the effective governance of the organization and support the organization’s strategy, including the progression of its transformative Gateway initiative.

Areas of Board focus include policy, strategic planning, finance, fund development and stakeholder engagement. In addition to bi-monthly Board meetings, Board members also actively participate in committee work and can expect to volunteer approximately 8 to 10 hours a month.

We are seeking to fill the position of Communications and Fund Development Committee Chair and a committee member.

We are looking for board volunteers with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Communications : Provide strategic direction and oversight for Immigrant Services Calgary’s communication efforts. The ideal candidate will have experience in public relations, media engagement, and digital communications, and will be passionate about promoting the mission and values of ISC.
  • Fund Development : Support the increase and diversification of Immigrant Services Calgary’s various sources of funding through engagement and collaboration with corporations, donors, and foundations.

Commitment

ISC is looking to recruit at least 2 Board Directors for a 2-year cycle. Board Directors are required to participate in bi-monthly board meetings that are conducted in-person at the Immigrant Services Calgary offices (The Gateway building #1200, 910 7 Ave SW, Calgary). Each member is also required to participate in the Communications & Fund Development committee. Committees generally meet virtually every other month to discuss agenda items, provide updates, and support ISC leadership. The total time commitment is approximately 8 – 10 hours per month.
