The Role
We seek an individual who cares deeply about the welfare of cats, is passionate about the goals, mission, and vision of MEOW Foundation, and enjoys working in the non-profit sector.
The position reports to the Thrift Shop Manager.
Position Details
Front of store
-
Greet and assist customers in a friendly and kind manner.

Ring customers’ purchases through the till, handle cash and wrap/box items.

Organize, clean and stock the store with retail, MEOW made, MEOW Merch and Thrift items.

Inform customers about MEOW Foundation’s mission, programs, and events.

Answer customers’ questions about the MEOW Thrift donation process, volunteer involvement, current sales, and upcoming events.

Address customer complaints and feedback in a kind and professional manner.

Scan and alert management of potential security and/or safety issues.
Receiving
-
Retrieve donations, lift items up to 50 lbs, and carry items up and down stairs.

Greet and provide information to donors.
-
Clean, test, and sort donations.
-
Package items safely and ensure they are suitable and desirable for resale.
General
-
Research and price items.
-
Ensure all Occupational Health and Safety policies are adhered to, and safety procedures are followed to a high standard.

Submit time-sheets in an accurate and timely manner.

Willingness to clean donated goods.

Working Conditions

This is a part-time position, approximate hours 10-15 hours/week, working every Saturday & Sunday, and occasional weekdays.

Daily, this position requires the incumbent to sit, pull, push, crouch, stand bend, scoop, carry walk, kneel, reach overhead, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Rescue and Adoption provides food, shelter and medical care to stray and abandoned cats in Calgary and facilitates their adoption into new, loving permanent homes.

Subsidized Spay Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP) for Calgarian’s in-need to assist with the cost of spay and neuter.

Trap Neuter Return (TNR) Program for feral cats.

Cat Food Assistance (CFA) is a temporary support program if you are in need of cat or kitten food.
Through our programs, we advocate for responsible, compassionate animal care and assist over 2500 cats each year.
MEOW is a well-respected member of the animal rescue and services community in Calgary and works closely with other local and Alberta based groups to change the lives and provide a future for abandoned and mistreated companion animals.
Job Types: Part-time, Casual
Pay: $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 15 per week
