Island Health’s Department of Midwifery has 2 full-time opportunities for Registered Midwives to join thirteen other midwives at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, a 224 acute-bed regional referral hospital, enjoys a new perinatal unit with single room maternity care and Level II Special Care Nursing offering 1,200 deliveries per year with RMs currently doing 30% of these births. Successful applicants will be eligible to obtain full licensure with the B.C. College of Midwives and demonstrate suitable experience and training.
Midwives in B.C. are independent practitioners with their own practices in the community; these positions are for admitting privileges at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Successful candidates will demonstrated commitment to providing full scope midwifery services in both home and hospital in the city of Nanaimo.
