Professional-level proficiency in both French and English is required for this bilingual position.
Position Details: Reporting to the Manager, Consumer Credit, the Senior Associate, Consumer Credit is responsible for adjudicating credit applications and making decisions within defined risk tolerances, with authority to make exceptions where appropriate. This role serves as a key point of contact for Dealers, Sales, and the Funding Department, requiring clear communication via phone, email, and internal systems. The role demands multitasking across credit decisioning, escalations, compliance monitoring, and providing mentorship and backup support.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adjudicate credit applications in alignment with established risk tolerances and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Review funding requests requiring exceptions or overrides, as well as escalations from credit analysts, ensuring decisions are timely and within defined turn times.
- Provide feedback to managers on non-compliance trends and support calibration meetings for continuous improvement.
- Monitor dealer performance and fraud indicators and provide updates to managers and the Risk team for maintaining Caution and Watchlists.
- Mentor and support onboarding of credit analysts through knowledge sharing and training.
- Provide backup support to credit managers to ensure operational continuity.
- Complete ad hoc tasks and special projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- 4+ years’ experience as a Credit Analyst in consumer credit.
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English preferred.
- Strong knowledge of funding procedures, loan documentation, and the end-to-end credit analysis process.
- Experience with automated credit decision systems (FiServ/Defi or equivalent).
- Solid understanding of compliance laws related to retail consumer lending and funding.
- High school diploma required; college degree is a plus.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, build relationships, and communicate effectively in both oral and written formats.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong time management, collaboration, training, coaching, and feedback skills.
