About the role

Join the Town of Blackfalds! 

The Town of Blackfalds is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused  Municipal Clerk I  to join our team on a full-time term basis. This front-line position plays a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service at our Administrative Office. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, and possess strong phone etiquette. You’ll be the first point of contact for residents and visitors, assisting with inquiries, processing payments, issuing licenses and permits, and supporting various administrative functions.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Provide courteous and professional customer service at the front counter and over the phone.

  • Assist residents with forms, applications, and general inquiries.

  • Receive and process payments, issue receipts, and reconcile daily transactions.

  • Log complaints and service requests into the Town’s work order system.

  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail, couriers, and office supplies.

  • Maintain accurate records and ensure confidentiality in all transactions.

  • Support other administrative duties as assigned by the Finance Manager.

 What You Bring:

  • Post-secondary diploma in Business Administration or a related field such as Office Administration.

  • Coursework in financial accounting is required.

  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting or administrative experience, preferably in a municipal setting.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a professional and calm demeanor.

  • Proficiency in financial software, spreadsheets, and databases (experience with Diamond Municipal Software is an asset).

This is a term position ending September 15, 2026. The role is full-time, with working hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The hourly range for the Municipal Clerk I is $28.80 - $32.29 / hour as per the CUPE Local 417 Collective Agreement.
