The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a dedicated individual to help lead and oversee our receiving team. As the Team Lead, you will be relied upon as an expert in our receiving processes and will be responsible for ensuring the team consistently achieves our receiving targets. You do this by training team members, answering questions, setting up and managing the flow of products, ensuring the team follows the correct processes, problem-solving product issues, and jumping-in to help where it is needed. Your main goal is to ensure that the team works safely and efficiently, and that you are available to assist or problem-solve throughout the day to minimize productivity loss. This is a hands-on role that requires a team member who enjoys training and coaching, can effectively provide direction, and is motivated by improving the efficiency and accuracy of daily operations.
Responsibilities
- Onboarding & training of all receivers, including new hires, current team members, and department transfers
- Ensuring processes are being carried out in a standardized manner, including product verification, labelling, sorting, paperwork, and system entries
- Checking-in with new hires throughout the probationary period to answer questions or assist with additional training
- Assisting with receiving products and unloading of incoming shipments
- Ensuring efficient workflow is maintained by printing and organizing labels, directing team members on shipments to receive, trouble-shooting RF scanner issues, and providing timelines and expectations on receiving targets
- Problem-solving and answering questions experienced by the receiving team to minimize downtime (i.e. discrepancies in shipments, missing or damaged product, etc.)
- Reporting workflow issues or reoccurring problems to management that cause receiving inefficiencies
- Suggesting feedback to management regarding team member performance and process improvements
- Creating and developing an engaging team environment while maintaining team productivity
- Monitoring team performance and intervening where required (i.e. retraining on process, addressing excessive socializing, stopping and reporting unsafe or incorrect work habits, etc.)
- Ensuring all work activities are carried out in a safe manner and assisting with health & safety practices within area of responsibility
- Completing other internal requests or tasks as determined by management
Qualifications
- Leadership or training experience in an asset
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
- Team player with respect for co-workers
- Creative problem-solving and trouble shooting skills
- Detail-oriented and able to effectively prioritize
- A valid forklift certificate is preferred, but not required

This position will operate Monday to Friday, from 7:30am until 4:30pm, with additional overtime as required

The warehouse temperature is variable depending on seasonal conditions. Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of heavy product weighing 50-60 lbs, along with spending prolonged periods on your feet, is required.
