R&D and Innovation Specialist Vernon, British Columbia
Our R&D and Innovation Specialist is instrumental in driving innovation and overseeing the SR&ED (Scientific Research and Experimental Development) program across Tolko Industries Ltd. If you have a passion for innovation and a knack for program management , we want to hear from you!
We’re looking for an R&D and Innovation Specialist to join our head office located in Vernon, British Columbia . Our head office houses Tolko’s corporate services groups including Sales, Marketing & Logistics, Finance, Accounting & Credit, IT, Procurement and Human Resources.
Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
- Program and project management experience and technical management or engineering experience .
- Understanding of the technical and financial practices at corporate and business unit levels.
- A technical designation and/or equivalent post-secondary degree.
- Excellent understanding of the SR&ED program and the processes and tools available.
- Detail-oriented with an aptitude for communication and writing technical reports .
- Strong leadership , communication , and organizational skills with a self-starting “get it done” attitude.
- Previous experience in a forest products environment considered an asset.

In this role, you will:
- Maintain and improve the Tolko SR&ED Program .
- Manage the processes for identification, approval, documentation, and monitoring of potential SR&ED projects.
- Provide guidance and recommendations on optimizing SR&ED eligibility and tax credits .
- Act as Tolko’s representative at external meetings, conferences, and seminars with CRA.
- Collaborate with the Continuous Improvement team to identify synergies and opportunities for SR&ED claims .
- Act as a liaison between FP Innovations staff and Tolko staff, and manage external SR&ED consultants .
- Work with SR&ED Champions and Team Leaders to identify projects, provide training, and review documentation.
- Provide monthly and quarterly progress reports .
- Maintain and promote the use of the Tolko Projects Database .
- Undertake site visits to review project eligibility and documentation .
- Assist with technical write-ups for tax filings.
- Explore and lead the application processes for external grants and funding .
