Position Summary

Under the direction of Civil Superintendent the Mobile Crane Operator is responsible for operating the crane and a in a safe and appropriate manner, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by legislation, policies and procedures. Other duties may be assigned as necessary. This position requires knowledge of the heavy construction industry, specifically the practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, and safety associated with this industry.

NAC is currently seeing a Mobile Crane Operator, for various Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant projects initially at our WPCP in Kemptville, ON. This position specifically requires the operation of a Crawler crane. Furnished accommodations provided to qualified non-local candidates.

Job Description

  • Check and diagnose heavy equipment using approved circle check procedures before operating them to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order
  • Advise site team of upcoming crane services
  • Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances
  • Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other minor maintenance work
  • Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, application of safe practices, compliance with applicable Acts and regulations
  • Assist in loading and unloading of equipment
  • Instruct apprentices

Requirements

  • Must possess a Journeyperson Mobile Crane Operators certification
  • Must have 3-5 years’ experience working in a heavy civil construction environment
  • Must have experience operating 80 Ton RT Grove cranes
  • Experience in flying gang forms, rebar and concrete is an asset
  • Knowledge of equipment safety and maintenance techniques
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities
  • Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed
  • Valid WHMIS, Elevated/Aerial Work Platform, Fall Arrest certificates are required
