About the role

The New Vehicle Sales Manager is responsible for profitability in the new vehicle department and for customer retention. To achieve this, they must effectively build and manage a sales team, possess strong knowledge of the market and an in-depth understanding of financial data for the new vehicle department, along with exceptional customer relations skills. Stellantis experience is required, and CDK experience is preferred.

Essential Duties NOT in order of importance (included but not limited to):

  • Creates the annual New vehicle sales forecasts by estimating total vehicle sales, gross and operating profits as well as expenses for the New vehicle sales department.
  • Works with the general manager to establish and maintain the appropriate supply of new vehicles and order/dealer transfer inventory accordingly.
  • Actively participates in and manages the new vehicle sales process and environment within the dealership to reflect our "No Hassles, No Nonsense" guarantee.
  • Appraises trade-in vehicles and helps establish which vehicles are to be wholesaled based on achieving the maximum profitability for the dealership as a whole.
  • Hires, monitors and provides feedback on the daily performance of all sales staff, holds weekly sales meetings and ensures there is ongoing sales training, coaching and accountability.
  • Meets with the general manager on a weekly basis to review the weekly results in relation to monthly forecasts, commission sheets, performance reports and the profitability of New vehicle department and each sales advisor.
  • Creates programs aimed at increasing gross turnover and penetration of after-sales marketing (financing and insurance)
  • Oversees the standards for displaying and merchandising new vehicles.
  • Oversees the standards for all internal sales systems including interdepartmental referrals, CRM database and client referral programs.
  • Analyzes local market conditions, the demographic situation and the history of previous sales to help identify potential customers and build strong relationships with existing customers.
  • Achieves or exceeds all manufacturer Customer Satisfaction Index standards by promptly attending to all unaddressed customer complaints and ensuring that a high level of customer satisfaction is obtained .
  • Achieves or exceeds all manufacturer monthly new vehicle sales targets.
  • Keeps abreast of all the manufacturer’s current product, program and promotional novelties and/or those of the financial institutions. Ensures that the sales team is notified of any changes.
  • Understands and keeps abreast of federal and provincial regulations and municipal bylaws governing sales, and observes them.
