About the Chemainus Theatre Festival:
The Chemainus Theatre Festival is a not-for-profit professional theatre company located on Vancouver Island. Since opening the doors to its 274 seat venue in 1993, annual attendance has grown to over 40,000 patrons per season. In addition to producing live, professional theatre, the Chemainus Theatre experience also includes the Playbill Dining Room, Fireside Lounge and Gallery Gift Shop.
Position Overview and Key Responsibilities:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Janitor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in various facilities, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for all. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding high standards of cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting in designated areas.
- Maintain cleanliness of restrooms, break rooms, and common areas by restocking supplies and sanitizing surfaces.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs and report any issues promptly.
- Ensure proper disposal of waste and recycling materials in accordance with company policies.
- Assist with minor facilities maintenance tasks as needed to ensure the upkeep of the premises.
- Follow safety protocols while using cleaning chemicals and equipment to maintain a safe working environment.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
· WHIMS certification or willingness to obtain
· Successful clearance of a Criminal Record Check
· Previous experience in commercial cleaning or facilities maintenance is preferred but not required.
· Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
· Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
· Good communication skills and a positive attitude towards work.
· Must be able to lift moderate weights and perform physical tasks associated with cleaning duties.
The successful applicant will be available to work variable shifts including weekends, evenings, and day shifts.
Training for this position will begin as soon as a suitable candidate is found. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
