Based in Liberty Village, the Director will lead initiatives that drive occupancy, enhance tenant mix, and support long-term asset value across a diverse and growing commercial portfolio.
Your New Role
As Director, Leasing, you will report to the Vice President, Leasing, and will be responsible for managing the leasing strategy for a portfolio of commercial properties within the Greater Toronto Area. You will act as a thought partner, providing market insights and strategic direction while leading a dynamic team. Your focus will be on securing new tenancies, maximizing net operating income, mitigating risks, and driving long-term value for the portfolio.In this role, you will lead decisions on all aspects of leasing arrangements, from assessing tenant viability and market rates to negotiating deal terms and evaluating financial performance. You will develop and manage annual budgets that align with market realities and growth aspirations, while identifying opportunities to enhance portfolio value through renewals, new leasing, and development strategies. A key aspect of the role involves maintaining a thorough understanding of market trends, rental rates, and tenant mix to structure competitive deals. Additionally, you will champion new business development, build relationships with key stakeholders, and guide your team to achieve performance goals that align with corporate objectives.
What Sets You Apart
The ideal candidate brings extensive retail leasing experience with a minimum of eight years' experience in landlord, tenant, or brokerage roles. You are an ambitious and driven individual with a track record of motivating, developing and coaching others. Your strong local market knowledge, strategic thinking, and networking abilities enable you to build lasting relationships and close successful deals. You possess excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills, coupled with strong business acumen and a proactive, results-driven approach. A university degree, along with ICSC membership or a real estate license, would be considered an asset.
