Program Manager - Innovation

Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Hybrid

Annual salary: $ 107,000.00 - 135,300.00

What you'll do

As a project management professional, this role is responsible for managing new technology; Pilots, Demonstrations and

Testing. This includes but is not limited to innovative energy management products and services that reduce energy

consumption at customer sites and reduce peak time electricity usage. The position will lead multiple demonstration and

research projects across all customer sector portfolios (Residential, Commercial, and Industrial).

The successful candidate will have experience in project management, program/product development and the management

of multiple projects. The candidate will need to work with other product management and engineering teams to transition

pilots and testing into new product offerings and new operational initiatives.

The role will require abilities in leading and working in cross-functional teams, and external stakeholder/vendor relationship

management.

The position will be results-oriented, have an exceptional customer centric orientation, and take a practical and creative

approach to effectively resolve problems. The position will be accountable for implementing new technology; pilots,

demonstrations and testing utilizing best practices in research, analytics, data analysis and research design.

The successful candidate will:

  • Research, Test and Report on new products and innovative technologies
  • Identify, design, develop and manage Pilots, Demonstrations and the Testing of projects for the Innovation team across

multiple customer segments.

  • Provide project management leadership and direction and lead multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Monitor project data outputs to ensure learnings and desired outcomes are achieved and initiate alternate strategies if

required.

  • Monitor the project progress, schedules and financials to ensure projects remain on track and within budget.
  • Engage with cross functional teams and stakeholders in the development and execution of initiatives; including other

departments, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.

  • Run regular and ad hoc project update meetings and design workshops to ensure regular communication amongst

program stakeholders.

  • Generate presentation material and reports to debrief leadership and peers on the research, and project results.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, engineering, or equivalent education/experience.
  • 5+ years in project management, product/program development, testing, research, analysis, or financial analysis. All

within a large organization.

  • Proven ability to collaborate with diverse partners (e.g. equipment manufacturers, NGO agencies, installers, government

departments , customers).

  • Strong skills in gathering, synthesizing, and integrating diverse information into effective plans.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong collaboration skills and an ability to influence others.
  • Thrives in a team environment with cross functional team members, able to work with people with diverse backgrounds

and skill sets.

  • Outstanding oral, written, and presentation communication skills for communication with a wide variety of internal and

external stakeholders.

  • A demonstrable personal interest or passion for new technology, energy conservation and sustainable energy

developments.

  • A technical background that will support the general understanding of the technologies that are being investigated, a

knowledge in metering, energy management principles is an asset.

  • Familiarity with BC Hydro’s business and internal systems is an asset.

  • A condition of employment for this role is that you maintain your driver's license (Class 5) in good standing.

  • Required to occasionally travel to BC Hydro facilities, supplier and customer locations.
