About Us: We are excited to announce that Lighthouse Psychological Services is growing! We currently offercomprehensive psychoeducational and social-emotional assessments to a range of clients (spanning school-aged to adults) in Southwestern Ontario. We are expanding our services to include Equine-Assisted Therapy on a beautiful, serene 10-acre farm property in Sarnia, and are seeking a qualified Registered Psychotherapist or Registered Social Worker to join us on a contract basis.
About the Role: As a contract therapist, you will provide independent equine-assisted psychotherapy sessions in an outdoor, nature-based environment. Access to a quiet, confidential, indoor space is also possible. You will have access to our horses and facilities and will be referred clients directly by our team of psychologists. This is an ideal opportunity for a clinician who enjoys autonomy and prefers minimal administrative or collaborative obligations.
There is potential for a permanent or full-time position in the future as the program grows, though this is not immediate or guaranteed.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct one-on-one equine-assisted therapy sessions
- Manage clinical documentation and records in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Appointment booking and billing can be completed by our Office Manager
- Ensure the safety and well-being of both clients and horses during sessions
- Maintain professional standards in a farm-based, therapeutic setting
What We’re Looking For:
- Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with CRPO or Registered Social Worker (RSW) with OCSWSSW
- Certified or trained in an equine-assisted therapy model (e.g., EAGALA, FEEL, PATH Intl.)
- Comfortable and experienced in working with horses in a therapeutic context
- Self-directed and confident working independently
- Holds current liability insurance
- Evidence of a vulnerable sector screening to be provided
