Position Conditions: This part-time position including evening and weekend hours will be offered in accordance with conditions identified in the Collective Agreement between the City of Brandon and CUPE Local 69. This opportunity is open to all applicants; however, first consideration will be given to current City of Brandon CUPE employees. The City of Brandon reserves the right to underfill this position.
Rate of Pay: $17.30 per hour (2025 Rate).
Closing Date: Open until filled.
This competition will include testing and an interview.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
Under the direction of the Recreation Hub Programmer, the incumbents will be required to supervise and assist with the delivery of various programs and events, from art classes to sports & fitness, with participants ranging from school aged children to seniors.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, supervise and participate in program activities under the direction of the Recreation Hub Programmer;
- Provide leadership and direction to the participants and show enthusiasm;
- Provide a safe, cooperative and enjoyable environment for primary school aged children;
- Adjust program activities to accommodate a variety of group sizes, facilities, interests and participant skill levels;
- Ensure public health guidelines are adhered to at all times;
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to work successfully independently and in a team atmosphere;
- Able to problem-solve, plan and organize daily activities;
- Excellent public relations skills;
- Demonstrated ability to positively communicate and interact with people of all ages;
- Energetic, creative and relates positively with children.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Emergency First Aid/Level C CPR (to be obtained upon hire);
- Successful completion of a Criminal Reference Check and Child Abuse Registry Check;
- Related experience in recreation, programming, education, instruction, lifetime sports background;
- Previous experience working with children;
- Previous experience working in a multi-ethnic setting.
