About the role

This position is crucial to the St. Michael's Foundation’s Marketing and Communications (Marcom) team. The candidate will be responsible for writing compelling advancement communications, marketing materials, and campaign collateral to showcase the impactful work of St. Michael's Hospital and Providence Healthcare, inspiring donors to rally around our vision.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES

RESPONSIBILITY – WRITING AND RESEARCH

  • Research and write persuasive advancement communications, focusing on major gift proposals, cases for support, campaign collateral, and impact reports. Additional responsibilities include writing articles, web/social media copy, event marketing materials, and speaking remarks, as needed.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to create content for complex, multi-stakeholder projects, such as the annual report, from concept to completion.
  • Distill complex medical and healthcare information into clear, concise, and compelling narratives that resonate with donors and other stakeholders.
  • Engage with physicians, researchers, scientists, and executives to conduct interviews on a wide range of healthcare topics.
  • Source and craft compelling stories to inspire donor support and foster loyalty.
  • Craft consistent, high-quality narratives that reflect the Foundation’s brand voice across all print and digital materials.
  • Tailor content to diverse audiences.
  • Ensure stakeholder feedback is incorporated, deadlines are met, and approvals are obtained.
  • Provide copy-editing and fact-checking support to ensure accuracy and quality.

  • Abide by the policies and procedures of St. Michael’s Hospital, Providence Healthcare and the Foundation.

  • Perform all duties as assigned in order to meet the overall goals and objectives of the Foundation.
  • Operate within the culture and core values of the organization.
  • Act as an ambassador throughout the community, positively representing the Hospitals and the Foundation.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Degree in journalism, public relations or communications preferred.
  • A minimum of six years related experience.
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, manage time, and stay motivated in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Ability to accurately summarize and communicate complex information.
  • Experience in researching, fact-checking and interviewing.
  • Strong editorial judgment and copy editing skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated reliability, flexibility and multitasking skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency working with standard office software.
  • Works collaboratively and constructively with peers and stakeholders.
  • Note: Occasionally, Foundation staff is required to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
