What would my role be?

Reporting to the Manager, Technical Support, you will answer the phone at the Helpdesk and will be responsible for the resolution of a wide range of user problems, including problems related to specific software applications used at Bruyère as well as standard software suites such as MS Office. You will also provide support with hardware problems, especially desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and network related problems. You must be available after regular hours for on-call work, on a rotation basis.

How do I qualify?

Required:

  • Two (2) year community college diploma in a related field.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience

  • Providing support to users in a networked environment.

  • Experience in a similar environment, providing telephone support to end users of a variety different systems

  • Experience trouble shooting and resolving PC and printer related problems

  • Fluent in French and English (Candidates who do not meet this language requirement are eligible to apply for this position and may be considered if there are no other suitable applicants who meet this requirement.)

Preferred:

  • A+ certification.

  • MTA (Microsoft Technology Associate) Certification.

  • MSCA (Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate) Certification.

What skills should I possess to succeed in the role?

  • Sound understanding and knowledge of standard software packages (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and e-mail), Microsoft administration, Microsoft Exchange administration and phone system administration.

  • Sound understanding of computer operating systems (Windows XP, Windows 7, 8.1, 10).

  • Knowledge of Internet protocols and addressing.

  • Knowledge of network support systems like Dell Kace, Cisco Works, Windows Active Directory

  • Sound understanding and knowledge of PCs, laptops, printers, related components, peripherals and other related equipment, such as scanners.

  • Sound understanding and knowledge of phones and phone equipment.

  • Sound understanding and knowledge of mobile devices.

  • Able to communicate effectively, particularly to non-technical users.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities.

  • Possess tact, patience and diplomacy.

  • Advanced computer skills

  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology
