About the role

Summary:

The HR Generalist plays a pivotal role in supporting all aspects of the HR function at MTM. As the first point of contact for employees, they provide comprehensive HR support, ensuring a positive employee experience and effective administration of HR processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Employee Relations & Support:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employees, addressing inquiries related to benefits, payroll, leaves of absence, and other HR matters.
  • Effectively handle routine employee issues, escalating complex matters to the HRBP as necessary.
  • Ensure timely follow-up and responsiveness to all employee inquiries.

Talent Management:

  • Process all new hire paperwork, terminations, leaves of absence, and existing employee record changes.
  • Oversee a smooth and timely onboarding process for new hires, fostering early engagement.
  • Manage the offboarding process, ensuring all necessary steps are completed.
  • Administer the Service Award program, recognizing employee milestones.

Benefits Administration:

  • Possess expertise in company benefit programs, serving as a subject matter expert for employee inquiries.
  • Manage and administer benefits programs, ensuring accurate enrollment and data maintenance.

Data Management & Reporting:

  • Manage and maintain the HR shared drive and other HR information systems (SuccessFactors, Solium Shareworks, Bridge, etc.).
  • Collaborate with colleagues, including site HR teams and the Systems Lead, to collect and coordinate yearly and quarterly global HR data for various reporting requirements.
  • Assist the HR team with ad hoc reporting needs and special projects as assigned.

Process & Budget Management:

  • Process HR department invoices for payment.
  • Assist the HR team with managing the HR budget by tracking and regularly reporting on expenditures.
  • Conduct quarterly spend reviews, comparing actual spending to the budget.

Collaboration & Representation:

  • Work collaboratively with site HR teams and the Systems Lead to ensure smooth data flow and efficient employee movement through secondments and rotations.

  • Represent MTM at community and recruitment events as required.

Considerations:

  • Job Scope & Impact: This role plays a central role in employee relations, talent management, and HR administration. The Generalist's accuracy, efficiency, and responsiveness significantly impact employee experience and HR program effectiveness.

  • Problem-Solving & Judgment: The Generalist must independently handle a wide range of HR tasks, identify potential issues, and escalate concerns appropriately.

  • Knowledge & Expertise: This role requires a solid understanding of core HR processes, policies, data management principles, and employee benefits.

  • Relationships & Influence: The Generalist interacts with employees at all levels, requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport and provide effective support.

Experience, Qualifications & Eduction

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Human Resources or a related field.

  • CHRP or CPHR designation or in progress, is considered an asset.

  • 3-5 years of experience in a Human Resources Generalist or Advisor role.

  • Experience in the mining industry is considered an asset.

Working Conditions

  • This position is based at the Mine site where camp accommodations will be provided. The work rotation seven (7) days on and seven (7) days off, working twelve (12) hour shifts.

  • The role is located at the Mount Milligan Mine, which is approximately 155 kilometers northwest of Prince George, British Columbia.

  • Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts.

  • Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

  • Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from Prince George, Fort St. James, Mackenzie and Smithers.
