POSITION SUMMARY
211 Manitoba is a free, confidential, 24/7 service that connects individuals to community-based government, social, and health services in the province of Manitoba through phone and web services. 211 Manitoba is powered by a database of over 5,000 records of social, community, non-clinical health and government services information and this initiative is led by United Way Winnipeg. 211 Manitoba’s goal is to strengthen communities by effectively connecting people with appropriate information and services.
Reporting to the Vice President, Community Investment and Capacity Building, the Director, 211 Manitoba will:
- Provide overall leadership, strategy, and decision making for 211 Manitoba.
- Act as a liaison and manage key relationships with stakeholders including, but not limited to: community organizations, government departments, United Way Centraide Canada, 211 Canada, and FindHelp Information Services.
- Manage day-to-day operations and processes, supervise and evaluate staff performance, and ensure key performance deliverables are met, including technical, business development, and operational analysis.
- Manage grants from government, health authorities, and other funders.
- Contribute to fundraising efforts by seeking grants, major gifts, and other mechanisms to ensure 211 Manitoba’s long-term sustainability.
- Provide contract and/or grants management, fullfil funder reporting requirements, and participate in stewardship and gift recognition efforts.
- Represent 211 Manitoba in media inquiries and give presentations on 211 to stakeholders.
- Track progress to ensure national and provincial regulatory compliance and standards are met.
- Collect and/or conduct analysis of province-wide data and support the improvement of performance and quality indicators.
- Inform strategic decision making by the United Way Winnipeg Board of Trustees.
- Ensure standards and compliance issues are addressed so that the 211 Manitoba database adheres with current AIRS standards, and that data quality standards are met and focusing on coverage, currency, accuracy, and usability.
- Respond to feedback from the public regarding the database and keep the Vice President, Community Investment and Capacity Building informed of any real or perceived risks to the United Way Winnipeg and develop risk mitigation strategies.
- Develop strategy, manage the budget, establish targets, and be accountable for achievement and reporting on progress.
- Identify and maintain relationships by promoting and leveraging partnerships to create additional value for 211 Manitoba.
- Manage and provide oversight of training workshops and webinars related to 211 Manitoba.
- Lead marketing and communications activities by collaboratively developing a marketing and communications strategy and providing content and statistics.
- Work with social services, government, and community organizations to develop mutually beneficial partnerships for data creation and sharing.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
As the successful candidate, you possess the following qualifications or an equivalent combination of education and related experience:
- Strong passion for the work of United Way Winnipeg and 211 Manitoba for serving individuals and communities.
- Demonstrated relationship management expertise.
- Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public and community agencies and maintain good public relations.
- A positive and proactive outlook, with an ability to work within a multidisciplinary team to achieve common goals.
- Ability to lead and supervise team members.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Planning and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and to prioritize work under pressure.
- Experience with administrative and business processes.
- Experience and proficiency with program financial management, including budgeting and reporting.
- Ability to work and lead effectively with minimal supervision and excel in a performance-based environment.
- Ability to work independently and to allocate time and resources effectively.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of the health and social service network in Manitoba.
- Understanding of data analytics and applications within the health and social service sector.
- General understanding of database management systems (e.g., iCarol).
- 3-5 years experience in a similar role in a nonprofit/social enterprise/impact business organization, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- AIRS Resource Specialist certification an asset, and willingness to obtain, if required.
- Degree or diploma in the social sciences, human services, or equivalent.
