We are accepting applications for the following Non-Union 1.0FTE permanent Health and Wellness Officer at the Education Centre in Seaforth, Ontario.
Hours of Work: 35hours per week
Compensation Package Details:
Rate of Pay : $74,297 - $86,522per Level 5in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Employment for Non-Union, Management, Administrative and Supervisory Employees
Pension Plan : Defined pension plan through the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS)

Reports to: Human Resource Services Manager
Summary:
The Health and Wellness Officer plays a key role in supporting employee well-being and attendance support across the Board. Working collaboratively within the HRS team, this position manages short- and long-term disability claims, WSIB claims, return-to-work programs and attendance support. The Officer also promotes wellness initiatives, injury prevention, and fosters a culture of health and consistent attendance. The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, and experienced in disability and attendance management within a unionized environment. They will maintain confidentiality while building strong relationships with staff, supervisors, union leaders, and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and case management for short-term disability, long-term disability, and WSIB claims.
- Coordinate and support safe, timely return-to-work and workplace accommodation plans.
- Monitor and analyze employee attendance trends, communicate expectations in accordance with the Attendance Support Program, and prepare related documentation including summaries, correspondence, and recommendations for support measures.
- Utilize HR systems and technology tools to generate and analyze attendance-related statistical reports.
- Organize, facilitate, and chair employee meetings as part of the disability management process and Attendance Support Program.
- Advise managers, principals, and supervisors on accurate leave coding in accordance with collective agreements.
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with data protection policies and procedures.
- Support the implementation of wellness initiatives, including internal communications and research activities.
- Contribute to HRS-led projects and initiatives as assigned.
- Perform other related duties that support the overall function of the role.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Health Care, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a unionized public sector environment.
- Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., WSIA, Human Rights Code, ESA).
- Proven experience in attendance support, disability management, and accommodations.
- Familiarity with relevant collective agreements and Board policies.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- High level of discretion and ability to handle sensitive information.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office and HR data systems.
- Valid Ontario Class “G” driver's license and access to a vehicle for district travel.
