Your Opportunity:
Practicing within the philosophy and guidelines of the Alberta Kidney Care South Program, the Licensed Practical Nurse is a member of the health care team, collaborating in the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care, to meet the needs of individuals, families and/or communities. Duties and responsibilities are within the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) Dialysis Nursing Specialty scope of practice and in collaboration with the inter-professional team. This position involves lifting and movements requiring fine motor skills (e.g. hand dexterity).
Description:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program.
Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Completion of CLPNA IM/ID/Immunization courses required. Current BCLS certification required. Recent or current nephrology nursing experience required. Ability to work independently in a rapidly changing environment required. Basic computer skills required. Ability to maintain effective and respectful working relationships required. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, organizational and assessment skills, and the ability to work effectively as a team player required. Ability to successfully complete the Specialized Clinical Competency of Hemodialysis required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum 3 to 5 years medical/surgical experience preferred. Knowledge and training in Connect Care preferred.
