We’re looking for a Procurement & Mill Stores Inventory Manager to join our head office located in Vernon, British Columbia , supporting procurement and mill stores inventory throughout our BC divisions. Our head office houses Tolko’s corporate services groups including Sales, Marketing & Logistics, Finance, Accounting & Credit, IT, Procurement and Human Resources.
Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
- 10+ years procurement experience and 3+ years experience at a management level.
- Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation or equivalent.
- Experience in mill stores inventory management and optimization, procurement processes and process development .
- Contract experience and legal contract knowledge .
- Experience leading change .
- Excellent people and negotiation skills .
- Ability to influence without authority .
- Experience with a computerized maintenance systems.
- These other certifications would be considered an asset: A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and/or Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC) certification.
- Forestry and/or relevant manufacturing experience is preferred.

In this role, you will:
- Oversee, set sector policy/standards, train, set goals & KPI’s, and directly manage plant mill stores & purchasing teams in the mills they support.
- Ensure the recruitment, selection, and development of site procurement teams meet the needs of the divisions.
- Work closely with corporate procurement to provide input on policy and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Oversee contract management including negotiations and terms/conditions on higher risk, higher scope, and higher spend items.
- Represent your sector in corporate procurement initiatives, supply agreements, and inventory management strategies.
- Lead in the development and implementation of best-in-class sector-wide procurement and inventory management strategies.
- Provide leadership to purchasers in contract development by helping to analyze proposals for best value, addressing elements of safety, risk, quality, and schedule.
- Manage the division’s materials and operating supplies inventory level and accuracy.
- Provide purchasing support for capital budgeting, capital expenditures, and capital project management.
- Support professional development of divisional purchasing and stores personnel.
- Build and develop diverse teams and an inclusive culture.
