THE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in developing and implementing an effective information security strategy to protect Genoa’s systems and intellectual property.
- Apply security standards, frameworks, and best practices to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information.
- Monitor the IT environment to identify vulnerabilities, threats, and anomalous behavior, enforcing security policies through audits and escalation of non-compliance.
- Investigate security incidents, implement remedial actions, and support disaster recovery planning.
- Provide training and briefings to raise security awareness across the organization.
- Administer and maintain the company’s cybersecurity toolkit, recommending new security tools and enhancements.
- Research and analyze emerging threats and drive initiatives to enhance Genoa’s cybersecurity protection
- Maintain up-to-date security documentation, including policies, standards, and technical diagrams, to ensure compliance.
- Report on security metrics and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support other business units in achieving security goals and respond to security-related incidents and service requests via Genoa’s IT Service Desk.
- Taking on additional duties as required to support the IT Team and organization.
ABOUT YOU
- Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2+ years’ experience in IT security and networking roles.
- One or more of the following certifications:
- CompTIA Security+
- GIAC Information Security Fundamentals
- Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator: Security
- Associate of (ISC)²
- Proficiency with Microsoft, Tenable, Fortinet, and ManageEngine products.
- Hands-on knowledge of SIEM, XDR, vulnerability management, endpoint protection, identity & access management, and patch management.
- Working technical knowledge of Privileged Access Management, Scripting, SSO/SAML and MFA, Enterprise Password Management, Network Admission Control, Mobile Device/Application Management, systems and application architectures, data network concepts and common protocols, log collection and analysis.
- Strong understanding of M365 and Microsoft Office applications, Azure cloud services, Microsoft Windows servers and endpoints.
- Can document complex security processes, findings, and policies with accuracy, consistency, and a sharp attention to detail.
- Can moderate or facilitate technical discussions across functional areas and capture accurate outcomes, acting as a bridge between people and policy.
- Experience in preparing evidence for audits, assessments, and certifications is considered an asset.

ELIGIBILITY
Please note that obtaining security clearance is a requirement for this position, and as part of the process, the successful candidate will undergo a background check and personal reference verification.
To be eligible for this position and to successfully obtain the required security clearance, candidates must be either a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
