The Laboratory Of Dr. Jay Werber At The University Of Toronto Is Seeking a Highly Motivated MASc Or PhD Student To Contribute To Pioneering Research In Reverse Osmosis (RO) Desalination. The Position Offers a Flexible Start Date Of Either September 2025 Or January 2026. The Selected Student Will Participate In One Or More Of The Following Interdisciplinary And Collaborative Projects

– Generation of large datasets and development of machine learning models for organic pollutant permeation in reverse osmosis, utilizing high-throughput mass spectrometry in collaboration with the Chemistry Department.

– Advancement of polymeric membranes to support osmotically assisted reverse osmosis, an innovative technology in the field.

– Design and implementation of self-driving laboratories for membrane science, including the use of robotic systems for membrane fabrication.

Requirements – Demonstrated interest in topics such as sustainability, water scarcity, automation and AI, materials and polymers, modeling, and transport phenomena.

– Strong academic background in a relevant discipline.

– Excellent communication skills and motivation for interdisciplinary research.
