The Department of Paediatrics in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Clinical Research Coordinator. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 9 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

This position will be based out of the Owerko Centre - Alberta Children's Hospital Research Institute (ACHRI) at the Child Development Centre, with coordination with team members at the Mathison Centre for Mental Health Research & Education as well as the Hotchkiss Brain Institute (HBI).

Reporting to the Principal Investigator.

Recurring Part-time employees are hourly employees engaged to perform work on an irregular schedule.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

(job functions include but are not limited to):

• Recruit eligible participants for research projects from the community, medical clinics, and research databases
• Coordinate and schedule research visits according to study procedures
• Screen potential participants for research projects
• Data monitoring, entry, cleaning, scoring, and organizing
• Undergo training for new methodologies used in the research
• Research budget allocations, revenues and expenditures are administered effectively for the duration of studies
• Liaison between clinicians, researchers and team members to ensure that projects are managed effectively, on time, on budget, and are aligned with the overall objectives
• Ensure funders, support organizations and partners are provided with information and advice about our program
• Collaborate with the study investigators to perform and complete relevant parts of the study, such as obtaining signatures, completing interviews and tasks with participants, discussing questions that come up, etc.
• Perform delegated functions, such as interviewing and educating participants, completing questionnaires and interviews, etc.
• Prepare and submit study documents to the ethics boards
• Maintain research study binders with regulatory documents and participant data when appropriate

Qualifications / Requirements:

• Related undergraduate degree required; Master's degree in a health care related field preferred
• Previous experience working with children and families is required
• A combination of education and experience will be considered
• Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Experience with SPSS, R, and REDCap or other database systems is an asset
• Knowledge of the University of Calgary processes and procedures is a strong asset
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
• Knowledge of research ethics and tri-council ethics training is required
• Good Clinical Practice training and Health Canada Division 5 training is required
• Demonstrated strong communication (both written and oral), team and customer service skills, and an ability to exercise judgment within established guidelines
• A positive attitude and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are critical to success
• Strong organizational skills, highly conscientious, with demonstrated commitment to accuracy and attention to detail
• Must be comfortable interacting with children and youth and their families and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
