Rainy River Mine Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit and underground gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.
Applicants who reside in Northwestern Ontario and have experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the Northwest Ontario, are assets. Hiring priority will be given to qualified applicants who are beneficiaries of the Impact Benefits Agreement (IBA) and to qualified applicants residing in the Northwest Ontario communities. About The Role Position: Major Materials Technician
Reports To: Warehouse Supervisor
Work Schedule: 5/2/4/3 - 9 Hour Days
Position Overview The key objective of this role is responsible for the management of all of the sites' major materials. The Major Materials technician duties include; picking orders, inventory maintenance and keeping the major materials adequately stocked and organized. There will also be frequent interaction with other employees and departments requiring the delivery of high-performance customer service with an attention to detail.
- Camp & Travel Accomodations are not available for this role. Preference may be given to candidates of the Rainy River District.
Duties And Responsibilities Including But Not Limited To
- Coordinate with vendors to ensure availability of major material products.
- Support operations and deliveries to necessary department.
- Ensure accurate input of data within ERP system.
- Weekly and monthly material counts and usage for all supplies related to demands.
- Investigate invoice discrepancies related to Major Materials. (Bulk propane, lubes, tooling bulk grease, bulk fuel etc.)
- Support audit requirements as requested.
- Material staging and support of daily operations including parts running from site warehouse.
- Involvement and/or creation of procedures and SOP’s.
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to safety, health and environmental responsibilities.
- Assist with competence in relation to the various components of warehousing and logistics as needed.
- Any additional tasks as requested by supervisor.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in warehouse management in an industrial setting.
- The ability to work independently managing the receiving, inventory count reconciliation and coordinate adequate inventory levels for the operations.
- Forklift, telehandler and loader operation experience an asset.
- Computer competency in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Notebook, Outlook).
- Knowledge and experience of SAP (ERP) systems considered and asset.
- Cross cultural work experience is an asset.
- Valid G driver’s license.
Working Conditions

- Outdoor tasks.
- Machine operations.
- Ability to work alone and/or in a team environment.
