Position Summary
The Third / Fourth Engineer under authority of the Chief Engineer and Second Engineer, maintains the uninterrupted operation of shipboard machinery and systems. The Second Engineer manages and oversees the implementation of preventative maintenance projects.
Main Responsibilities
- Managing and safe operations of Machinery spaces, equipment’s.
- Ordering items through SINEX and doing so cost effectively.
- Ensuring that all engineering personnel under their watch always adhere to safety policies.
- Leading preventative maintenance initiatives in a cost-effective, efficient and timely manner.
- Ensure the safe and proper operation of propulsion and auxiliary machinery.
- Troubleshooting when machines are not working correctly.
- Monitor of bunker and lubricants.
- Responding to oil pollution according to the correct procedure.
- Must possess good communication skills.
- All other duties and responsibilities as may be defined in Safety Management System (SMS).
- All other duties assigned by the Second Engineer and Chief Engineer
Minimum Qualifications

The Third / Fourth Engineer must hold the following minimum qualifications (subject to variance in the vessel’s safe manning documents):
- Third / Fourth-Class Engineer license (Motor III/2) issued by Transport Canada, A Second-Class Engineer license is desired.
- MED with respect to STCW basic safety; MED training with respect to proficiency in survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats; MED in advanced firefighting; MED for senior officers; Ship management practices taught using a propulsive plant simulator (level 2).
- Basic Oil Tanker Training with Transport Canada Level-1 Endorsement.
- Tanker experience, Preferably with Dual fuel (LNG)
- Dual Fuel (LNG) Training –Basic
- Marine Advanced First Aid.
- Ship Personnel with Designated Security Duties.
- A valid Passport and Transport Canada Marine Medical.
- Eligible to enter the US
