Job Overview:
Under the direction of the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis, the Supply Planning Analyst is responsible for developing and maintaining the Master Production Schedule (MPS) based upon the long-term inventory strategy. This role is a key owner of the end-to-end Material Requirements Planning (MRP) process and works closely with Production Planners, Production Supervisors, and other cross-functional teams to proactively identify capacity constraints, supply risks, and inventory issues.
In addition to planning responsibilities, this role uses advanced technical skills to analyze data, optimize processes within our ERP system, and create reporting tools to support business decisions. The Supply Planning Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring production efficiency, inventory health, and service levels across all sales channels.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Develop mid- and long-term production plans and work centre shift requirements; perform capacity analysis for future production planning to support business growth.
- Own the end-to-end MRP process, ensuring production plans are current, forecasts are met, and interrelated processes are executed in sequence for accurate MRP output.
- Proactively identify and communicate any supply risks (purchased or manufactured) to appropriate stakeholders.
- Maintain system data to ensure reports accurately reflect forecast needs and delivery requirements for purchasing and production.
- Analyze changes in forecasts and communicate impacts and risks to the Purchasing team.
- Prepare and maintain reports indicating production progress and proactively address any issues.
- Determine and manage appropriate safety stock levels for manufactured goods while balancing service levels and shelf life/quality.
- Utilize ERP logic and system knowledge to optimize production planning, scheduling, and inventory processes.
- Identify at-risk inventory (due to expiration or obsolescence) and work with internal teams to formulate and execute proactive use-up plans.
- Support product lifecycle management, including BOM (bill of materials) changes, product discontinuation analysis, and recommendations on final production quantities for end-of-life products.
- Use Power BI, Power Query, and other tools to efficiently generate data for capacity planning, inventory reporting, and business analysis.
You will be a good fit if you have:
- Minimum 3 years experience in production planning or scheduling, using MRP software and relevant education in Operations Management.
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated experience in data analysis and reporting tools including Excel (required), Power Query, and Power BI.
- Expertise in MRP functions/modules of ERP systems (Syteline ERP experience is an asset), and familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Ability to perform root cause analysis, identify process improvements, and implement solutions.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent time management, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in a food production environment.
- Candidates holding or working towards a professional supply chain certification (ASCM, APICS, SCMP) will be considered an asset.
Get ready to enjoy:
- Extended Health & Dental Plan
- Sickness and Disability Plans
- RRSP Matching Program
- Profit Sharing
- Perks: Active Lifestyle Program, Tuition Reimbursement, Employee Discount — and much more!
