The Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement has an opportunity for a permanent full-time Facility Maintenance Mechanic position located in Saskatoon.
Under the direction of the Building Operator, you will be responsible for:
- Performing facility maintenance duties such as operating, maintaining and cleaning building mechanical systems and HVAC systems on the campus, including providing minor repairs to these systems;
- Performing safe and efficient operation of the boiler systems and air conditioning equipment;
- Analyzing and maintaining boiler water testing and complete minor plumbing repairs;
- Ensuring facilities and equipment are safe and are meeting operating standards; and
- Completing any additional responsibilities as assigned.
To be considered successful for this position, candidates require:
- Knowledge and experience working with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems (HVAC);
- Knowledge of automated building management systems and Direct Digital Controls (DDC);
- Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and practices of carpentry, plumbing and electrical systems;
- The ability to inspect, troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions and perform minor repairs and maintenance using proper safety precautions and standards; and
- The ability to respond to questions and concerns calmly and respectfully from clients with clear and consistent communication.
You will also possess either: (a) 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate, or (b) both a Fireman Boiler Operator Certificate and a Refrigeration Engineer Certificate. If there are no candidates who possess these certifications, we are open to having the successful candidate work under the Building Operator while they obtain the required certifications (within twelve months of employment).
