Qualifications:
- Current Registration and Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current Basic CPR Certification
- Formal education in Psychiatric nursing at a College level preferred
Experience Preferred:
- Code White training
- Computer literate, Meditech trained
- Current knowledge and experience in Psychiatric Nursing
- Preferred experience performing Mini Mental Status Evaluation, Hamilton Rating Scale and GAF scales.
Required Skills:
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Mental Health assessment skills, familiarity with the MH-RAI.
- Self-directed, motivated team player with a demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development in Psychiatry.
- Ability to manage a variety of patient conditions
- Ability to organize daily activities; to remain flexible; and adapt to crisis situations and
rapid change
- Ability to work rotating shifts
- Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team to plan and provide optimal patient care
- Good attendance and work record is essential
- Sound problem solving, conflict resolution and decision making skills
