About the role

Role: The Accounting Coordinator role is integral for MNP Community & Sport Centre (“MNPCSC”). Our ideal candidate is detailed, organized and enjoys working with data. In addition to standard accounting tasks the accounting coordinator role also provides support to our point of sale and accounting systems, so familiarity with software and testing is an asset. MNP has adopted performance-based reporting, and this position plays a key role in compiling, analyzing and reporting data to support business decisions.

Reports to: Director of Finance and Information Technology

What You’ll Do:

Accounting

Monthly

  • Process the membership payment run, including pre-checks and coordination with Accounts Receivable tasks
  • Prepare month end entries including cash, prepaid expenses, inventory, amortization, accruals and revenue recognition.
  • Prepare assigned account reconciliations.
  • Support cash counts
  • Assist Finance and IT Director with audit preparation and responses.
  • Support Finance and IT Director with preparing and analyzing monthly financial statements.
  • Support Accounts Payable and Receivable Administrator as required with auditing member cancellations and registrations.

Daily

  • Reconcile daily cash and credit card transactions from customer service.
  • Complete various finance related point of sale (Salesforce) tasks
  • Monitor bank account balances, perform bank transfers and prepare EFT’s and wires for payment of invoices.
  • Assist Customer Service Manager with unique refunds, cancellations and receipts requests.

Finance & Systems

  • Support finance related Avocado/Salesforce functionality and best practices including:

    • Ensuring completeness of revenue streams captured in Salesforce
    • Validate data accuracy
    • Ensure proper GL coding for revenue
    • Price book updates, product creation
  • Stay current on Sage, and Solver functionality and best practices. Provide support to users, encouraging self-sufficiency and self-service.

  • Perform customer account and transaction integrity tasks as required including order corrections, refund requests, etc.

  • Support leadership team in:

    • Scorecard data collection and reporting.
    • Compiling KPIs and/or obtaining from KPI owners on a regular basis to comparing to targets.
    • Assisting with preparing regular scorecard reports to leadership and the Audit & Finance Committee
    • Building robust and interactive reports to shed light on the performance of various initiatives.

What You’ll Need:

  • Diploma or degree in accounting, business, commerce, or related field
  • Proficient in bookkeeping, data analysis, and MS Excel
  • Experience with systems like Avocado, Salesforce
  • Familiarity with reporting and dashboards
  • Strong tech skills and a solutions-focused mindset
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building abilities
  • Detail-oriented, accurate, and maintains confidentiality

  • Self-starter
  • Must successfully pass a police check
