About the role

Job Description As a Ship Manager, you will ensure the performance of your team of managers in achieving the production objectives of the assigned project. You will ensure deadlines are met, costs are controlled, work is performed to a high standard, and a safe working environment is maintained.

More Specifically, You Will

  • Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)
  • Promote and maintain a strong OHS culture within the management team.
  • Actively participate in monthly health and safety meetings.
  • Ensure OHS indicators are monitored and the necessary corrective measures are implemented to correct any discrepancies.
  • Ensure environmental practices comply with current standards.
  • Quality
  • Be responsible for the quality of work performed on the project.
  • Ensure managers integrate quality requirements into work planning and execution.
  • Analyze non-conformities and support the implementation of sustainable solutions.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Control Department to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Costs, Production, and Performance
  • Respect the allocated project budget and ensure rigorous monitoring.
  • Manage SPI and CPI indicators, costs, and deadlines, and produce weekly production reports.
  • Develop action plans to correct performance gaps.
  • Oversee the management of materials and equipment required to complete the project.
  • Ensure the information on work orders is complete and compliant.
  • Coordination and Leadership
  • Manage and supervise your team of managers to ensure their performance aligns with the company’s strategic priorities (SQCDME).
  • Effectively communicate action plans and objectives to managers.
  • Prepare and lead daily meetings with managers and weekly coordination meetings with stakeholders.
  • Manage conflicts between managers and promote collaboration within the team.
  • Act as a change agent and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Be responsible for managing working relationships within your team.
  • Strategic Alignment and Communication
  • Participate in level-3 (T3) team meetings, manager meetings, daily follow-ups with the Production Director, and weekly project meetings.
  • Maintain regular contact with the Production Director, external clients, zone managers, as well as the Quality Control, Project, HSE/ENV, and HR Departments.
  • Ensure managers understand and apply Davie’s work culture.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in an industrial environment.
  • Five (5) or more years’ experience in personnel management.
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Intermediate level of English (both written and spoken). This level of English is required for this position as the incumbent will be required to interact with English‑speaking suppliers.
  • Experience in a unionized environment.
  • Successful completion of the investigation and security clearance process required by the federal government’s Contract Security Program.
