Manitoba Justice is seeking to fill the position of Chaplain.
The Manitoba Youth Centre (MYC), located at 170 Doncaster Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba is the only youth correctional centre in the Province. MYC provides care, custody and programming for upwards of 150 young people charged with an offence or sentenced to a term of custody under The Youth Criminal Justice Act. MYC staff's goal is to aid the youth to return to the community as law abiding citizens.

Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search

Must provide and maintain satisfactory Child Abuse and Adult Abuse Registry Checks

Must be able to provide a satisfactory Enhanced Security Screening Level 4

Must maintain an endorsement by an ecclesiastical authority and be in good standing
Qualifications:
ESSENTIAL:
-
Master of Divinity (or equivalent from and accredited institution).
-
Ability to interview and counsel youth residents and their families.
-
Excellent interpersonal skills.
-
Ability to plan, organize and follow-up in a multi-disciplinary environment.
-
Knowledge of criminal justice issues and community resources.
-
Experience working with indigenous people and their culture.
DESIRED:
- Knowledge of religious programs and educational activities.
- Clinical pastoral and intervention experience.
- Demonstrated experience working in a high stress environment with persons experiencing crisis.
Duties:
The Chaplain in the Centre maintains a visible presence, deliver pastoral care, provide religious services and sacrament ministries as appropriate, conduct religious education activities, community interpretation and integration of Chaplaincy and the institution in line with the foundational spirit on which Chaplaincy is based for the purpose of promoting positive healthy change and to help reduce the risk of recidivism and reoffending.
