About the role

The Operations Supervisor directs and oversees the functions of warehouse employees and assists in both the administrative and operational responsibilities as and when required. This position also requires the individual to work in a dynamic environment and exercise prompt decision-making and problem-solving abilities.

Shift Available -

Weekends: Friday-Sunday, 6am-6pm

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling and supervising the activities and the functions of the warehouse team
  • Assigning daily tasks and evaluating the work of their direct reports.
  • Ensuring the proper and timely completion of all warehouse activities.
  • Responsible to ensure company safety policies are adhered to and safe work habits are utilized by everyone.
  • Informs Facility Manager and Transportation team when a truck is late (after 1 hour loading window), delayed or does not show up.
  • Inspecting and overseeing the inventory records of the warehouse for accuracy, in combination with keeping track of all inbound and outbound supplies.
  • Regularly inspects and ensures the maintenance and safety of all warehouse equipment and machinery.
  • Makes inventory and evaluation reports pertaining to the warehouse.
  • Ensure respect for standards and regulations in force within the warehouse supporting (OHS, SQF etc)
  • Ensures the Brimich HACCP and SQF Programs within the warehouse environment are followed and maintained.
  • Supervises the daily shipping and receiving of product and ensures adherence to shipping and labeling functions as per customer requirements
  • Participates in quality planning/improvement activities
  • Cross trained to cover off other warehouse responsibilities as required
  • New hire training and onboarding for those assigned to your shift
  • Performs other duties as required by management.
  • Wears personal protective equipment as required at all times.

  • Understands and works in compliance with the Environmental and Health/Safety management systems, policies, rules, and guidelines.
  • Observe standards for safe working conditions as outlined in the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Understands and works in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Takes every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a worker.
  • Performing regular workplace inspections, conducting/participating in safety talks,
  • Actively participates in accident/incident investigations
  • Identifying and correcting unsafe acts or conditions
  • Proper use and wear of personal protective equipment

Job Specifications—Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to effectively lead a team, delegate, supervise functions and keep employees motivated.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to problem solve
  • Strong interpersonal, and conciliation skills
  • Knowledge of safety standards
  • Must have good organizational skills, be a self-starter and a team player.
  • Experienced licensed lift truck driver.
  • Experience with a WMS
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite skills
  • Responsible for promoting and seeking excellence in all aspects of business.
  • Capable of regular safe lifting up to 60lbs
  • Capable of working in freezer environment (-18 degrees Celsius)

Training Requirements

  • Forklift Certification – Counterbalance and/or Reach
  • WHMIS
  • HACCP
  • First Aid & CPR level A with AED
  • Emergency Evacuation

Education and Training

  • Diploma in supply chain management, general administration from a certified college, or equivalent experience.
  • Certified Forklift Operator - Counterbalance and/or Reach.
  • Excellent computer skills with knowledge of bar coding systems.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in warehousing facility activities at a Supervisory level.

  • Participate in developing and maintaining a continuous improvement culture in the warehouse.
