About the role

POSITION: Sales Manager

STATUS/LENGTH: Permanent Full-Time

REPORTS TO: General Manager

HOURS OF WORK: Minimum of 40.00 per week

The Sales Manager will be primarily responsible for executing the sales strategy of the hotel with the ultimate objective of maximizing revenues across all revenue generating outlets to include bedrooms, meetings, events, and food and beverage.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

· Devise and implement the overall sales and marketing plan for the hotel and actively monitor its progress in terms of achieving KPI’s, budgets and revenues.

· Assist General Manager with pre-opening tasks.

· Liaise with the General Manager and RMAS Team in adopting price strategies across the hotel.

· Build-on and develop relationships with our current clients.

· Analyze current markets and identify new markets and potential clients.

· Tour series contracting.

· Organize and conduct site inspections and familiarization trips in conjunction with the Hotel team.

· Manage the number and performance of third party and promotional websites and liaise with providers in ensuring optimization of the hotel’s online position.

· Proactively monitor the Hotel’s profile on the various social media platforms and ensure appropriate responses are posted in a timely fashion.

· Liaise with our Digital Team in managing the content of the Hotel’s website.

· Develop and agree departmental sales plans and communicate them clearly to all parties.

· Manage all promotional collateral from copyright through to design and print and ensure that it is in line with Great National branding.

· Ensure in house promotional material is current, effective and supports any new sales and

· marketing promotions.

· Manage the guest database and ensure that client’s details are accurate and UpToDate.

· Ensure that all client correspondence is tracked and recorded, including quotations and contracts.

· Represent the hotel at consumer trade fairs, mall promotions and tourism events both at local and national level.

· Organize on and off-site client entertainment.

· Always maintain the highest standards of professional conduct when dealing with clients, guests etc.

· Submit weekly Sales & Marketing activity reports to the General Manager and Directors.

Your team

· Lead and develop your Sales & Marketing team by proactively coaching and mentoring team members.

· Conduct weekly snapshot meetings with your team and up update on activities/sales to date and plans for the weeks ahead.

· Monitor the progress of your sales team through weekly activity reports

· Encourage positive working relations with all departments by regular communications and feedback.

Qualifications:

· Demonstrated knowledge of the practices and theories normally acquired in a related field or an equivalent combination of relevant education and relevant work experience.

· A thorough understanding of sales, marketing, and customer service

· Previous management experience preferably in a hotel, hospitality, or tourism environment

· Proven knowledge of sales, marketing, customer relations, and guest services through extensive practical experience

· Effective communication, presentation, interpersonal and organizational skill

· Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and/or work with a multi-disciplinary staff, in a result oriented and predominantly fast-paced environment.

· Lead teams and participate in team meetings

· Experienced in designing and delivering customer focused programs and services

· Ability to interact effectively with guests, management, peers, staff and the general public

· Thorough knowledge and understanding of policies, procedures, regulations and by-laws affecting the department/section

· Working knowledge of computer software applications as well as Microsoft Office, CRM’s and database management

· Ensure sales operations are carried out within the systems and procedures required by the management company and brand specific standards

· Knowledge of brand related hotel systems

· Excellent working knowledge of basic accounting procedures relating to sales

· Familiarity and working knowledge of local area, the City of Victoria and Town of Sidney and the surrounding area is an asset

· Ensure the accuracy of sales and other department reports, working

· Ability to communicate effectively; written, verbal, phone and face to face meeting situations

· Outgoing personality, organized, and detail oriented

· Flexible – able to work weekends, evenings, and some holidays

· Excellent work ethic; must be honest and work well with others

· Must have good cash handling skills

· Marriott or hotel chain working experience is an asset however, extensive training will be provided

· Demonstrated knowledge of health and safety regulations as it relates to the position will be considered an asset

· Demonstrated skills in database (CRM) applications, Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, internet considered an asset

Health & Safety:

The incumbent is required to work in accordance with the provisions of applicable Health and Safety legislation and all City of Victoria and Town of Sidney, corporate and departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety

Terms

Applicants must have a valid full “5” driver’s license and/or dependable transportation to report to work
