Status: Part Time

Hours: Course will be delivered online, synchronous starting in September 2025 (Monday at 8:30am to 11:00am)

Home Campus: Fennell (online synchronous)

Start Rate: Upon hire, Human Resources will conduct a rate calculation based on completed education and work experience to determine the starting step.

The Social Services and Justice Studies department, within the School of Interdisciplinary Programs and Community Services, requires a part-time Professor to teach in the Paralegal Program delivered online, synchronous.

Under the direction of the Associate Dean, Professors in this department are responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective learning environment using a blended model of lecture and practical learning experiences.

What you’ll be doing:

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Teaching theory and practical application components of paralegal work as it relates to Employment law for Paralegals.
  • Creating a positive sustainable and innovative student-centered learning environment.
  • Using a variety of teaching strategies most appropriate for the curriculum, delivery mode and students.
  • Using various techniques to evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes.
  • Managing the educational environment to facilitate an optimal learning experience and student success.
  • Evaluating, revising and developing learning resources within the program.
  • Enhancing educational delivery and experiences using the College’s MyCanvas learning management system and other technology to facilitate student learning.
  • Applying College values and philosophy in work activities and interaction with others.
  • Using the College’s MyCanvas learning management system to present curriculum, testing and online activities.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Legally licensed by The Law Society of Ontario as a paralegal or lawyer.
  • Three years or more of practice experience in Ontario as a paralegal or lawyer practising in employment and labour law, with experience appearing before WSIAT, Human Rights Tribunals and the Ontario Labour Board.
  • One year of teaching experience or have formal training in education that has resulted in a degree, diploma or certificate being awarded by an institution accredited, authorized or designated by a governmental authority to offer such degree, diploma or certificate.
  • Learner-centred approach and to assist in the development and application of alternate delivery methods.
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
