Summary:
DMC is currently looking for Supervisors (Mechanic) to join our team on a contract basis, based at Cadomin Mine site in Alberta. This will be a fly in/fly out (FIFO) position on a 14 days on/ 14 days off schedule. The worker will be required to work both day and night shifts, that will be 12 hours in duration.
Reporting to the Superintendent, the Supervisor (Mechanic) is responsible for the direction and leadership of DMC Mining Services employees and will manage a shift or a segment of numerous shifts to complete tasks. They will be responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of assigned tasks and the timely completion of each project safely with the highest quality on budget. The scope will involve the development of an underground mine with multiple heading sizes, the largest being 13.7m x 7.6m.
Responsibilities:
- Supervises crews and coordinates the activities of the workers in surface and underground mining projects.
- Works within the contract presented to the client.
- Conducts weekly safety meetings and provides a safe work environment.
- Provides training to crews.
- Daily documentation and correspondence between client and company on performance of crew and equipment as described in the applicable contract.
- Equipment repairs will include weld repairs on (but not limited to) 50te haul trucks, 12-yard LHDs, 2 boom jumbos, a bolter, utility trucks and a scaler (excavator).
- Ensure QAQC forms and red-line drawing packages are being completed properly and submitted in a timely manner.
- Ensure work orders are being filled out properly with quality information.
- Must follow standard safety operating procedures.
- The ability to work with OEM representatives.
- Usage of tooling associated with the scope, including (but not limited to), welding equipment, drills, grinders,
- The worker may be around explosives and may be subject to security checks.
- Takes responsibility for aspects of occupational health and safety, and environmental matters, over which the individual has control, including adherence to all requirements applicable to DMC. Medical and drug testing will form part of the pre-employment process.
- Demonstrate commitment to the continued improvement of Occupational Health, Safety and Environment.
- Other related duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- Post Secondary in Heavy Duty Equipment Technician.
- Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic Certificate/License (421A) is a preferred asset.
- Ontario Basic Underground Common Core - 770010 Program (U0000-U0001-U0002-U0012) is an asset.
- Common Core for Generic First Line Supervisor (770141) is a preferred asset.
- Minimum of 2+ years’ underground mining experience in a similar supervisory role.
- Ability to train and mentor team members.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Strong computer skills. MS Suite and associated computer competence.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Must possess a valid G class driver’s license.

1980 The company was founded in 1980 as Dynatec Mining Limited. In its second year in business, it started building the Macassa Mine shaft, for which, it still holds the record for the deepest single-lift timbered shaft in the world.
1992 DMC developed the Long Round Concept for shaft sinking, an innovation that improved productivity by 20%.
2013 The company initiated and developed leading edge, shaft sinking technology using Shaft Boring Roadheaders (SBRs) designed and built in Germany for a twin shaft project in Canada.
