Job Summary:

The Line Worker is responsible for sorting recyclable materials which includes positive and negative sort for various commodities. In addition, this position will be responsible for ensuring that the work area and workstation are clean and assist with daily cleanup and operate equipment. The Line Worker must maintain harmonious working relationships with all personnel and will display a non-adversarial, non-confrontational and cooperative approach in the completion of all tasks.

Your Role:

Actively sorting both positive and negative recyclable materials on the conveyor line, separating items into appropriate bunkers and cages.

  • Sorting beverage containers that are covered under deposit legislation into appropriate bins.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe workstation; keeping floor space free from product and/or residue.
  • Assisting in daily clean-up.
  • Emptying barrels and boxes from the line.
  • Operating equipment in a manner consistent with the manufacturer’s specifications and WorkSafe BC regulations.
  • Reporting any deficiencies or repairs required to the Production Supervisor.
  • Positively contributing to team production goals; behaving with fairness and consistency when working with others.

Getting an Interview – you will be considered if you have:

  • Work experience in the waste, recycling, or environmental services industries an asset, but not required.
  • Lift-truck/Forklift certification/experience would be an asset.
  • Skid steer experience is an asset.

The Job Requires you to have:

  • Ability to do physical labour and repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • CSA approved footwear and other protective/safety gear.
  • Ability to work in a dusty and smelly environment.
  • Ability to work in an environment with loud or distracting sounds and noise levels.
  • Ability to work in hot and cold temperatures, depending on the weather.
  • Ability to work with a minimum amount of supervision, work independently, and be self-motivated.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs/22 kilograms.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Understanding of current Recycle BC Guidelines.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices.
  • A satisfactory criminal record check, which is a condition of employment.
  • A satisfactory Fitness Assessment, which is a condition of employment.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
