Role Overview

You will be the designated AML Reporting Officer (sometimes called the Chief AML Compliance Officer) for our Canadian MSB, with a direct reporting line to the Director of Compliance (London) and functional accountability to the Board. Your primary mission: keep our Canadian operations fully aligned with FINTRAC requirements while championing a culture of risk awareness across a fully remote team.

Key Responsibilities

What you’ll own Regulatory Reporting

• Prepare and file Large Cash Transaction Reports (LCTRs), Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and Terrorist Property Reports (TPRs) through FINTRAC’s F2R portal.

•⁠ ⁠Maintain a reporting calendar; ensure zero late filings.

Risk Assessment & Program Design • Lead the annual enterprise-wide AML/ATF risk assessment (per PCMLTFA).

•⁠ ⁠Update policies, procedures and the Risk Rating Matrix to reflect new FINTRAC guidance and evolving product flows.

Monitoring & Governance • Review automated alerts generated by our transaction-monitoring engine; escalate true positives for investigation.

•⁠ ⁠Chair the quarterly Compliance Committee; present KPI dashboards and thematic findings.

Training & Awareness

• Deliver onboarding and annual AML refreshers to 100 % of Canadian-facing staff (remote e-learning + live Q&A).

Regulator Liaison • Act as the primary point of contact for FINTRAC exams, desk reviews and information requests.

•⁠ ⁠Coordinate document production during onsite or virtual examinations.

Record-Keeping

• Ensure five-year retention of KYC, STR and transaction records; design audit-ready evidence folders in our cloud DMS.

Continuous Improvement

• Benchmark Unicorn Currencies against industry best practice; pilot analytics to reduce false positives by ≥ 15 % year-on-year.

What We’re Looking For

Must-have Nice-to-have

•⁠ ⁠3+ years in AML/CTF compliance within a Canadian MSB, bank or fintech. • Prior experience as the named AMLRO/CO in a FINTRAC-regulated firm.

•⁠ ⁠Demonstrated hands-on FINTRAC reporting via F2R. • CAMS, CSC or equivalent certification.

•⁠ ⁠In-depth knowledge of PCMLTFA, OSFI Guideline B-8 and FATF recommendations. • Familiarity with payment APIs and digital-wallet products.

•⁠ ⁠Strong analytical skills; comfortable interrogating alert data in Excel/Looker. • French or Mandarin proficiency (many of our counterparties are bilingual).

•⁠ ⁠Excellent written English for drafting STR narratives and board papers.
