The Risk and Security Guard is responsible for securing the building and identifying potential risks and threats to the organization during their shift.

- Must be available to work overnight hours (8:30pm-7am), weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Team
- Willingness to accept the most effective role.
- Communicate clearly via radio and with staff and leadership.
- Proven customer service and leadership abilities.
- Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills for accurate reporting.
- Ability to make quick, sound decisions.
- Additional language skills are a plus.
- Close with an open mentality.
- Keep all areas in like-new condition and website ready.
Guest
- Ensure guests are greeted and acknowledged consistently, adhering to the 10/5 Rule.
- Promptly address guest complaints, investigating and resolving issues.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification; ability to recognize substance abuse considered an asset.
- Maintain emergency procedure knowledge; respond to alarms, notify authorities, and provide first aid or CPR as needed.
- Communicate with guests in a professional and friendly manner.
Financial
- Protecting company assets by adhering to policies and procedures.
- Report and manage unusual incidents, safety violations, theft, damage, or suspicious persons; escort if necessary.
- Document daily security activities and complete required incident and injury reports.
- Investigate security incidents thoroughly.
Qualifications & Traits
- Minimum 1 year of risk and security experience or equivalent education.
- Valid Security License as per provincial regulations.
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Guard Management Software.
- Familiarity with CCTV and camera systems preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs; may need to carry people or equipment in emergencies.
- Bend and kneel as required for administering CPR and First Aid.
- Maintain full mobility for emergency response and property patrols.
- Stand continuously for extended periods; use stairs when responding to fire alarms (no elevator use).
- Possess excellent hearing for communication with guests, staff, and via radio.
- Have excellent vision for emergency situations and safety inspections.
- Work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions as needed.
