AGS Automotive Systems is a full-service automotive supplier specializing in the manufacture and supply of complex high value-add automotive metal components, including in particular front and rear impact assemblies, principally for pick-ups and the heavy truck market. AGS is looking for a Materials Scheduler/Planner to join our Cambridge team.
Basic Function: Reporting to the Materials Superintendent, the Materials Scheduler/Planner is responsible for, but not limited to, inventory control activities, and production and labour schedules, to ensure customer requirements are met.
Principal ResponsibilitiesDuties:
Adheres to procedures and instructions.
Responsible for maintaining safe working conditions, practices, and ensures that good safety processes are included in all activities. Ensure the Standards of Section 28 of the OHSA are met.
Responsible for inventory control within QAD which consists of:
- Scheduling metal stamping line 6,89 as well as progressive dies
- Scheduling of 13 welders
- Scheduling of service pack
- Develop Scheduling system for coatings processes
- Daily review of schedule attainment to guide the team to ensure Customer requirements are met
- Back up to ensure customer requirements are received daily and weekly and all communications on shipments are made in a timely manner
- Interact with all AGS intercompany plants to ensure all rack flow is accurate and compliments our production schedule for internal attainment.
- Perform various audits as assigned (LPA/FIFO/INVENTORY)
- Participation in 5's Gemba walks and continuous improvement
- Act as backup for Jr Materials Planer
- Perform other duties as assigned
Principal ResponsibilitiesDuties:
- Working with maintenance to ensure PM's are being met as well as scheduled down days
- Schedule to releases to ensure 100% on time delivery to our customers by line balance to maximizing manpower utilization
- Ensure inventory accuracy on all levels.
Qualifications:
- Good knowledge of manufacturing and related processes, including customer shipping requirements and production scheduling.
- Grade 12 and three years or more of experience in a computerized materials management / production environment.
- Good computer, interpersonal and communication skills.

AGS has capabilities in stamping, plating, coatings, welding, engineering and design, and sequencing and assembly. Founded in 1947, with 8 facilities in Canada and the US and with over 154,219m2 of manufacturing floor space.
AGS has a distinctive expertise in chrome plating impact beams. AGS’s impact beams consistently exceed appearance and corrosion resistance standards and have an unsurpassed warranty record. In addition, continued investment in chrome plating R&D has enabled AGS to deliver superior quality, corrosion resistance and material reductions to its customers. AGS also has e-coat and zinc line facilities which provide corrosion protection to metallic parts which are not chrome plated.
AGS also has considerable know-how in stamping complex parts. AGS has more than 135 stamping presses in its facilities, with capacity up to 2500T, including tandem, transfer and progressive presses, many with very large beds to accommodate large parts. A sampling of AGS’s stamped products includes bumper impact system components, cross members, oil pans, control arms, hitches, pillars, beams and frame assemblies.
AGS also has particular skill in welding, including MIG, resistance and drawn arc, and has developed highly automated, flexible welding equipment to help reduce cycle time and improve yields and efficiency.
