About the role
Reporting to the Manager, Recreation Centre, you will be responsible for providing frontline customer service and fulfilling the administrative duties of the Recreation Centre front desk, including reception, reservations/bookings and cash transactions. You will also attend to the general operational needs of the gym such as laundry and basic equipment maintenance and cleaning.
Job Requirements
- Current basic First Aid Certification
- A minimum of one year relevant experience (customer service or retail)
- Ability to work independently, without direct onsite supervision
- A caring, welcoming attitude and a genuine interest in customer needs
- Excellent problem solving ability, as well as a high level of diplomacy, tact, and judgment necessary when dealing with difficult situations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and customer management techniques
- Ability to process transactions at a point-of-sale terminal, give correct change and balance and close the till at end of shift; trustworthy and skilled in managing and accounting for a cash float
- Ability to operate a computer with basic software (MS Word, Excel) and RRU’s point of sales system
- Flexible and able to multi-task in an environment with multiple interruptions
- A demonstrated commitment to teamwork
- Motivated, enthusiasm for fitness

This is a casual, on-call position. The hourly rate is $24.89. Due to its limited term nature, this position is not eligible for enrolment in the University’s Benefits Plan, but you will be provided with 4% in lieu of vacation.
